The books to the left of the cupboard are real and are leather bound volumes.  The books on the doors are false and are shown open and in detail below with the split shelf in the centre and the fixed shelf above with the light baffle below for the light over the decanters and glasses.

This illustrates how the false book backs can appear after a few years of tend loving care and a little polish. They look as good as the originals above and to the left.
