Lights were fitted to the pilasters on either side of the bookcase which also shows power points fitted to our back, fluted upper pilasters and base, rebated lower pilasters and fielded door panel;

We fitted an up-stand to this bookcase with builders cornice run after our installation, with fluted pilasters, pilaster head mouldings and square rebated head and cornice facia;

The returned cornice head with patrea, dentil moulding, fluted pilasters and side panels;

Details of Chinese style hand made surface mounted hinges with oriental style of door relief and cornice facia based on the traditional water fall motif;

Our cornice returns onto the chimney breast within the double break of the breast, just below the double returned room’s cornice;

Shelf pins are counter sunk into the under side of the bookcase shelves. Also illustrated are the sockets which have been over painted and are less visible. With the rebated side pilaster and shelf moulded on the face edge to match;

Our designed reeded pilasters at the bookcase sides and the cornice returned to the chimney breast. With a typically Georgian round bulls eye at the top;

Square simple mouldings with “cylinders” at the pilaster heads which have tapered spaces to balance running their full length, with square plain lower pilasters and waist-top moulding.

The bookcase has a shallow height but long protruding  cornice for the Study in an early 20th Century style with wide pilasters having narrow rebated central section with chamfered and stopped top and bottom “mouldings” with the upper and lower rails of the doors similarly treated.

A traditional classical cornice with fluted pilasters, a rebated square motif and pilaster head moulding having a fluted lower cornice facia.

Our design for a gothic style of cornice and facia with tri-foil emblems, rosettes on the cornice facia, tri-foil pilasters on the return and at the base, moulded arched gothic door panels and arched rebated lower pilasters.

A minimalist design for a work study cupboard with internal lay out for computer etc. showing the rebated corner continuing throughout with the simple square central panels to the doors which are hung on the very traditional, durable, drawn brass butts (hinges).

Internal filing drawers for foolscap files, hung traditionally with tabs, inside the cupboard the doors, doors are hung on traditional brass hinges; occasional drawers with recessed central panels and surrounding cock bead on the edges to the right; with a pencil drawer over the knee hole. The desk area is deepened with a curved rebated lower pilaster, the upper fluted pilasters stand on moulded base pediments.

  DETAILS 11

A plasma screen TV cabinet with shelf over for ornaments or books, side shelves for Videos or DVDs, the speakers fitted into the face, the whole panel fitting around the screen which is mounted on the cupboard top with mdf cover over the stand, having ventilation all round to permit the equipment in the cupboard to vent through the back, with open area behind the Screen for wires and access.  The whole of the face can be removed for access and may be redesigned and remade to accommodate new screens in the future.

Dado - Chair rail - height, room panelling showing the fielded central panels, the surrounding panel bead, the deep dado rail and skirting returned upon themselves at the door architrave (not sufficient depth), the traditional bead on the corner, the higher skirting (dado rail height permitted) to take power points after our work and the hard wood floor boarder following our panelling which was laid after our installation.

Panelling around the entire room with floor to ceiling fluted pilasters with pilaster head and bases standing on full base pediments over the skirting, recessed panels with fielded central panels and internal bead around the whole room, with full depth and fully moulded dado or chair rail between the upper and lower panels to include radiator covers incorporating rebated and beaded lower pilasters and removable and vented face covers, the whole with cornice designed and sympathetic to the many returns over the pilasters, in the corners and at the chimney breasts.

The original panelling was matched by us in mdf and softwood to replicate the bolection panel molding, the soft wood cornice, the dado rail and the skirting. The resulting central cupboard was painted to match the existing old pine panels. The chair is resting against the original panels the “returned” cupboard with the fittings inside is our design to harmonize and, as best we could, copy the existing.

Returned corners of the styles and rails to the doors, drawers and under the shelf with an added scotia and our standard use of the traditional drawn brass butts (hinges) on the otherwise very simply decorated sideboard.

Bought in applied moulding with a twisted spiral and rosette. Sometimes the use of these help to enhance the design and atmosphere of our work particularly if of gilded brass or similar metal or if specifically carved or turned for us.

A simple cornice run to a central oriental style curved peak and apex tip with a bead running round the shelf opening and down the pilaster or central divider.

Internal wardrobe and bookcase cupboard shelves showing the shelf sockets with the pins supporting the shelves but without any cut out recessed sections for the pins to conceal them.  This facilitates shelf replication without the need for a sample shelf. The traditional brass butts (hinges) which we always use unless otherwise agreed, are clearly show. The shelf edge mouldings and the inside door recessed panel and traditional bead (not flushed through unless required or of minimalist style). The magnetic door catches can be seen inside the cupboard at the top of the closing door edge.  The pilasters from which the doors are hung and hinges fixed are beaded both sides.

This detail shows how our bookshelves are on adjustable supports on recessed banjo pins and fitted sockets with moulded front shelf edges.

The balance between the top cornice and the lower stepped cornice is illustrated with the lower cornice falling onto the upper cornice facia and the whole supported by the head bead on the pilaster head mouldings. The rebated upper pilasters show the balance between the larger front pilaster and the smaller back pilaster in this bookcase.

The builders cornice ran over the top of our library bookcases and was run after our installation to an upstand we provided specifically for it. The wide pilasters with five flutes and surmounted by a square motif with fluted cornice facia is clearly shown. In the upper section the side panels to the bookcase and the under panel work to the over head bookcase across the door opening is shown. The over door bookshelves had their own small fluted pilaster. The returned corner with the double pilaster on the return and the detail at the top illustrates our solution to corners.

The detail to the left shows our recessed bookcase with sofa space with side light provided by the customer and overhead light behind the light baffle with our usual panelled finishing and above the bookcase running over the doorway with panelling on the sides and overhead and fluted pilasters with head and base mouldings forming part of the work

The builders cornice run over the bookcase after our installation with recessed fluted pilasters, bulls eye base and heads with additional circular motif doors hung on traditional brass butts (hinges) with recessed panels, panel bead and central fielded panels with meeting bead on the door opening.

The style of this bookcase in a postmodern flavour with the crossed motif and central disc on the doors, recessed and beaded panels on the facia and the minimalist square finishes to the cornice and waist-top moulding.

A returned cornice to the chimney breast with dentil, deep facia, bead and patrea over fluted pilasters.

This shows how the library is fitted over the skirting where the room skirting is higher and deeper, How the fluted upper pilasters land on detailed base moulding, the lower pilasters are rebated, where the pilasters in the return cupboard corner and recessed central panels with surrounding bead and central fielded panel.

Filing drawers inside the cupboard, side drawers with face panelling, pencil drawer over the kneehole, kneehole back panel to conceal electrical points (if and as required), fluted upper pilasters and rebated lower pilasters.

Mantle shelf cuts into the bookcase pilaster because it overran the chimney breast. The cornice returns to the wall at the chimney breast below the existing room cornice with up-lighters on the bookcase top.  The upper pilasters and the facia were a simple rebate with corner bead moulding on a base pediment moulding.

This mantle shelf overran the chimney breast by a long way and so the upper pilasters had to be specially prepared to allow the flutes to stop short but the pilaster still stood on a base moulding.  Below the rebated lower pilasters are shown.

These are examples of a minimalist style where the bookshelves float on the walls and the doors are finished plain flush panelled with our standard brass hinges.

   DETAILS 20

This is our unique style of chamfered top and bottom door mouldings, (incorporated also in the upper pilasters) with the double vertical panel and horizontal top panel for a 20’s style flat in London.

This illustrates our design for the cornice typical of the 20’s where it is not very high but stick out well from the horizontal and has little decoration. Here it returns onto the chimney breast giving a clean finish to the pilasters below.  The pilaster have our narrow rebate with the chamfered head moulding.
