This TV cupboard was fitted with Flip Back Hawa hinges, which slide into the bookcase carcass. (Hafele UK)

In my design for this secure basement conversion which provided for the family room close to the kitchen so that no one was ever far away from the activity of the household.  It allowed for a study work area for homework with TV afterwards.  There was also a bookcase fitted over the radiator case behind the sofa with the service room on through and past the left of the desk in the corner.

This spacious basement conversion provided for a family “playroom” which doubled as a formal dining room on special occasions. Once again the service room was on through past the end wall opposite the road window on the right.  The antiqued mirrors, between the bookcases, lent a special atmosphere on those big occasions, illuminating, dispersing and defusing the candle light to great effect as well as giving the illusion of additional space.
